Somewhere on the island is buried a bottle containing the Act of Possession claiming the island in the name of the King of France - a historical treasure which still awaits discovery! Guarded in large part by coral reefs has created a natural lagoon which washes an almost continuous, brilliant white sandy beach. Denis also boasts a spectacular lighthouse built in 1908 and the only ecumenical chapel in the Seychelles.
Taj Denis boasts twenty five elegant cottages decorated in a natural theme. Each cottage has its own private sea facing verandah and courtyard. The cottages are spread amidst casuarinas and coconut trees on either side of the main house. Alongside are pathways that meander through coconut groves and into the island interior.
Affiliated to the resort is a small dive centre that provides a range of professional dive excursions for the beginners and advanced divers alike.
The protected underwater marine life around Denis Island allows it the privilege of being ranked as one of the finest destinations for diving in the Seychelles.
The waters of Denis Island are renowned for their abundance of game fish and year-round fishing. Fishing enthusiasts flock to the island from around the world to try their luck at getting their names in the record books. Fishing charters in comfortable and well-equipped boats operate daily from the resort upon prior arrangement.
For the sport enthusiasts, the resort also provides a wealth of recreational activities including tennis, ping pong, windsurfing, canoeing, sailing, billiards and the popular jogging trail. The informal “Bigorno” lounge serves as a venue for reading and a retreat for peace and tranquillity.
